Parkside (Aldershot and District Learning Disability) logo

Parkside is a registered charity based in Aldershot that provides support services for children and adults with learning disabilities living in the local area. Parkside’s aim is to give both children and adults the opportunity to develop their individual skills and to take part in activities within the local community. Needs can vary from requiring support to socialising with friends, participating in leisure activities, meeting new people, developing life skills and providing respite for other family members.

The group is run by parents, for parents and carers of children with Down syndrome in North Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.

Heron Wood Clothing Exchange logo

Open almost every Friday from 9.30am – 11.30am. Bring your good as new clothing along. Each item is worth one credit. You can then exchange your credits for more clothing that fits. Babies', children’s and adults’ clothing is welcome. The volunteers have got a good stock of clothing for you to choose from. Come and meet Sarah and Kate, the friendly volunteers. The exchange is supported by First Wessex and the volunteers are supported by Marie Jarvis at Rushmoor Voluntary Services.

The Black Children’s Achievement Project Communication Line is for:-

• Parents who would like to know more about the English education system and how to help their children to succeed
• Schools and partner organisations who have questions relating to the cultural, language or educational background of Black African and Caribbean children and young people in Hampshire
• Students who would like to talk to someone who understands their culture or can give them support with their homework or other issues.

Parentchannel.tv is an online service designed to support and encourage parents and carers of children aged 5-19. It is a collection of short videos addressing day-to-day questions and concerns spanning wellbeing, behaviour and learning. There are links to existing services for further information and support, where needed.

Parent Support Advisers logo

Parent Support Advisers help schools to provide greater support for parents and families. Their role is to offer support, help and guidance to all parents and carers. They are responsible for:
• Providing access to information
• Supporting parents and families in all issues relating to school life
• Improving school attendance
• Improving behaviour in school
• Supporting parents through ‘transitions’ – from pre-school/home into reception and from primary into secondary school.

Rushmoor Sibling Support Group logo

Are you caring for a child/young person with a disability in Rushmoor or Hart? Do they have a sibling who does not have a disability? Are they aged 5 – 11 years? Then this group may be just what they need! It is a social group that offers space and time for children to play together who have similar life experiences. Alternate Saturdays (term time only), 10.00am – 12.00 noon at Farnborough Grange Infant School. £3 per term per child.

North East Hampshire Domestic Violence Forum logo

Domestic abuse can include physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse. The North East Hampshire Domestic Violence Forum brings together representatives from the many local agencies who work with those affected by domestic violence and abuse in Rushmoor and Hart.

Parent Voice logo

A specialist information and participation service across Hampshire for all parents and carers of children with disabilities and/or additional needs. There are no eligibility criteria and families do not need a formal diagnosis to access the service.

Parent Voice have a dedicated Participation Worker, with personal experience of many of the issues faced by parents of children with disabilities/additional needs, in every district in Hampshire. The Participation Worker for Hart and Rushmoor is Natalie Walker. If you would like her to attend a group you belong to, please get in touch.

HIVE Information Service - Aldershot logo

The HIVE is an Army information network. It is available to all members of the Service Community, including both married and single personnel, together with their families and dependants as well as civilians employed by the Services. The HIVE offers an extensive range of information on UK relocation; overseas relocation; Service families accommodation; single living accommodation; affordable housing schemes; childcare and early years provision; primary, secondary, post 16 and adult education; healthcare; employment; shopping including discount outlets; leisure and recreation; extended services and out of hours activities; motoring and travel; insurance, legal and financial matters; welfare and community support; pets and animal services; refuse collection and recycling; and cleaning companies.

In addition, the HIVE can offer support to families whose loved ones are currently on deployment. This includes deployment packs for families; an E Fax bluey facility; blueys; envelopes for 2kg parcels and various books.

Opening hours are 8am - 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 8m - 3.30pm on Fridays.

National Autistic Society - Hart and Rushmoor Branch - The-Zone! logo

It is a support group for families with children on the Autistic Spectrum in Hart, Rushmoor and the surrounding areas and is based at the Samuel Cody Specialist Sports College. They provide information and advice for parents/carers, as well as activities, events and days out for families especially during school holidays.
