Aldershot Showreel logo

The ‘showreel’ for Aldershot has been produced by Rushmoor Borough Council, with support from Grainger plc, to showcase Aldershot’s key benefits. It focuses on the town’s sports and cultural facilities, access to many open green spaces and parks, easy travel access to and from many locations, and the history of the area. The aim is to show people what Aldershot has to offer to both residents and visitors.

The showreel is 3.27 minutes long, with a music-only backing track which can be used or silenced. It can be used by anyone and schools and colleges could consider using it as part of recruitment packs or welcome meetings for new parents and staff.

Aldershot Town FC Community Trust logo

Aldershot Town FC offer schools the opportunity to work with them through their Community Trust. As the Trust is a registered charity and not a private enterprise any money made is put back into the local community. Quality coaching can be provided both during and after school hours and all coaches are FA qualified and CRB checked. There is also the chance to offer free holiday course places as rewards to deserving children from your school and educational projects at the EBB Stadium. You can also participate in the Trust’s junior football tournaments.

There are fundraising opportunities such as the Target Challenge, prizes for raffles and tombolas and the offer of a presence at any fete or summer fair.

Bike Start  logo

Bike Start is the social bike project for Rushmoor, Hart and West Surrey led by The Source Young People's Charity in Aldershot. They train young people aged 16-25 to refurbish, service and maintain bikes in their workshop under the supervision of experienced and qualified bike mechanics. They also sell refurbished bikes, hire bikes and organise led bike rides for you to explore cycle routes in your local community.

Challenge and Change logo

Challenge and Change is a programme run by Safer North Hampshire which educates young people on the consequences of their behaviour on the wider community. Referrals come from the police, schools, antisocial behaviour officers and professionals working with troubled families. The project is run by a number of organisations, including Safer North Hampshire, the police, Hampshire Fire and Rescue, HMP Winchester, local magistrates and Victim Support. The course is designed to be a reality check on where the young people are today and what could happen if they don’t change their ways and attitudes.

The Community Matters Partnership Project (CIC) is a project that brings together socially minded businesses and organisations to work collaboratively for the benefit of the local community in Rushmoor.

There are two Partnership Officers based in the Community Support Team of Hampshire County Council. The team focus on working with organisations such as schools and libraries to support Hampshire’s armed forces communities. They are keen to meet with individuals and community organisations with the aim of establishing networks and partnerships in order to ensure the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant are incorporated into practice.

Cove Brook Greenway Group logo

Cove Brook is an environmental group which looks after Cove Brook and Southwood Meadows in Farnborough. The group seeks to improve the greenway for people and wildlife and is open to everyone. They hold conservation working parties and open meetings and have a free quarterly newsletter. In the summer they arrange walks and wildlife surveys. Their field centre at Blunden Hall has resources for schools and groups.

Fare Share work with Hampshire County Council to tackle food waste and to ensure that projects supporting the community are able to purchase quality food and save money too. The project supports lunch clubs, homeless projects, children's centres, community cafes, day centres etc. If your organisation buys and prepares food for clients and members there are many advantages to getting involved with Fare Share and you can receive quality food for very low cost.

The Guildford Freecycle™ Group is open to all in the Rushmoor area who want to "recycle" that special something rather than take it to the tip! If it's a chair, a piano or an old door, feel free to post it.

Do you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender or are you questioning your sexuality? Do you want to meet like-minded people? The Farnborough LGBT Coffee Posse meets at Costa Coffee, Princes Mead, Farnborough GU14 6YB on the last Saturday of the month between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Other than meeting to make new friends and catch up over a coffee, the group has no set agenda. They are supported by the local Lesbian and Gay Liaison Officer from Hampshire Constabulary, who offers support and advice should members have any appropriate issues to raise. A representative from Solent NHS Trust also attends to offer advice and support in any area of healthcare.

First Wessex / Vivid Homes logo

First Wessex, now Vivid Homes, support and develop regeneration projects with their residents and the wider communities in which they live. They work closely with partners to establish strong community and voluntary organisations which provide services across Rushmoor and North West Surrey.

Greenfingers involves families who live in the Mayfield and Grange areas of Farnborough in improving community green spaces and communal areas, developing an allotment to encourage children to learn about self-sufficiency and life cycles, and developing areas for local wildlife. It encourages children to learn about flora, fauna and crops and to cook and eat the produce they harvest.

You don’t need to live locally to get involved and you can be any age. All you need is energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to get involved.

Greenfingers meets every Saturday from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. There will always be two volunteer co-ordinators to guide the group. All sessions will start at the Prospect Centre. The whole family is very welcome. For more information call or email Jamie Beaton.
